exhaust delete question

I have an '03 ram with the 4.7. I have tried searching the threads for my answer. I am thinking of deleting my muffler with a straight pipe since there or no emissions in my state. I cant remember but would this create negative back pressure?

I know that people who get cuttoff's on fourth gens don't seem to have problems because it's behind the cats.

That's good to know. How about third gens?

No issue on the 3rd gens what so ever. Are you keeping the cats or gutting/removing them too? If you do gut/delete them then you'll need a custom tune, which can be an issue with the '03.

No I am not doing anything with the cats. Just looking to free up a little hp. Will the sound be very loud? When I have the $$$ I will put in a nice aftermarket muffler.

It will be loud, but not obnoxious. I ran a set of e-cutouts on my '07 before the muffler and after the high flow cats and I loved the sound.
