Stupid Human Tricks

We all have that one friend who brings out the redneck in us. Several years back a buddy of mine managed to beat my GMC sierra up a grade with a Eclipse. Basically I was schooling him until we hit a curve and i had to slow down or roll. Needless to say I have never heard the end of it.

Fast forward to 2013. He seems to believe that his 2003 v6 Trail Blazer will out pull my 2013 RAM. Both cars have limited slip and are 4wd. He keeps pretty aggressive tires on his cars (he lives above the snow line) and I have the stock on road off road tires. Weight distribution is fairly similar since I have the Crew Cab. His car is chipped. but it's still where close to the 407 LBS of torque that i have. Am I missing something? He's more knowledgeable about cars then I am. Does he know something I don't know or is he just talking trash?

Either way I'll find out tomorrow. Lunch and incessant smack talking is on the line.

So what exactly is the challenge? What are you pulling and how much?

bradburyesqu 09-28-2013 08:47 PM

Sorry I should be more specific. He's talking about a truck tug-o-war.

Thunderhorse 09-28-2013 08:49 PM

I wouldn't do that just because its terrible for your new truck

CdnoilRAM 09-28-2013 09:32 PM

tug o' wars don't prove much. Basically it's a a way to see who loses traction first and is entirely dependent the tires/surface. Also, NEVER use a chain, if you insist on doing this then get a 30ft nylon strap. If either snap you're replacing a bumper/tailgate most times. Is it worth it on a brand new vehicle?

Just use Caution
use front tow hooks or a rear hitch
do NOT use your frame or axles

shawnu 09-28-2013 09:41 PM

Or rear window... lol.

Grubrunner 09-28-2013 09:52 PM

Part poopers!

Don't listen to the drama queens above.

Do it and post a video of the confrontation here..... and the aftermath.

One word....

Youtube. :smiley_thumbs_up:

Truth be told when it gets down to it I'll probably look at my month old truck and his decade old truck and wuss out.

More then anything I was curious about why he was so confident with what should be an inferior towing vehicle in every way.
