sluggish shifting fix

I don't know if this has been posted but I couldn't find it. Those of us with the 4.7 seem to have a common complaint about the trans shifting too soon or the motor feeling sluggish in the low rpms. If that's a problem for you try putting the trans in tow/haul. It keeps the engine in its powerband by holding gears longer on acceleration and deceleration and utilizing engine braking. I've found that when the 4.7 stays in its powerband it's a completely different animal than it is when you let the trans do its pre programmed job. The only downside to using tow/haul it's your mileage might suffer a bit due to you keeping your foot in it!:rockon::rockon::rockon:

Does the Superchips trans tuning not work on 08's?

Yeah SC has trans tuning fir the 08, I'm just recommending this for those that don't have/cant afford the superchips yet.

Tow/Haul mode on the 13's doesn't change the shift points.
They have a very short shift out of 1st even with Tow/Haul turned on.
I've got to the point where i manually shift mine using that stupid unresponsive button on the shifter.
Dodge definitely needs to take lessons on tranny programing.
My company GM 3/4 ton with the 4.8LS is twice as nice to drive as my new Ram when it comes to tranny shifting

The short shift its what I hated the most. As soon as the engine would start to wake up the trans would shift and the truck would fall on its face. I can't speak for the 13's but the tow/ haul on my 08 holds each gear about 200-300 rpms longer and will downshift quicker or deeper when given throttle. It's a nite and day difference in daily city driving

Thanks for the info, brains! I recently put a SuperChips on my 05 4.7 and the tranny has definitly improved in performance. But the tow/haul button is a great way to help out. If you get any more great ideas in that brain of yours, make sure you share them with us.

those with the SC buy the trans engineering for $30 or $40, whatever it is, you'll love it.
