lots of brake dust?

When I painted my calipers, there was AALLOOTTT of dust on it, I couldn't even get it all off so I just painted over it. (yeah thats dumb, but it was either that, not painting at all, or getting new ones). I just assumed it was from years of not be cleaned or maintained.
But now that I got a good coat of lime green on there. Ive noticed a lot more dust on it.

Why do my brakes feel the need to cover my fantastic paint job with nasty crap?.
how do I fix it? I would rather not clean my calipers off every day.

Get better brake pads that won't dust as much and it should help your problem

Arth 09-30-2013 12:39 AM

Agreed. You have some very cheap pads that dust up really bad.

I read brands like EBC gives you choices

i have read that some people use the GREEN pads
7000 & 6000 in combination

So what you're all saying is that when I had my truck in the shop to fix my front end, brakes included, they basically put practically the cheapest brake pads possible on my truck? haha.

I read something about these the other day. Icant remember which thread though.
Is GREEN the brand?

STUPID QUESTION TIME--

Are brake pads universal? Close to universal? Or is it more like I have to go to an auto parts store to see if they have any in stock that fit my truck type of thing?

GTyankee 09-30-2013 01:49 AM

http://www.ebcbrakes.com/

places like PEP BOYS carry them, but so do many online sites

shawnu 09-30-2013 01:50 AM

Yup, unless you request better pads they give you generic pos things to make it "cheap"...
Like stated above, a good quality brake pad will help out quite a bit, last longer, and perform better!!

Yes, youll hafta get a part number since brake pads are not universal....

Good luck!!

(Come paint mine red for me!!)
