Simple Green

In preperation for undercoating, sprayed a mild solution of simple green on the underside of the truck and rinsed it off so it was nice and clean. I noticed when dry, the Simple Green dulled the frame; everything else is fine. I would be really upset if I was not getting it undercoated as I like the shiny appearance. I have never had this happen on other vehicles, that's why I use it. So, for anyone wanting to clean the underside of their Ram; don't use Simple Green if you want the frame to be shiny.

Thanks for the tip.

HMMM...... If this is true, thank God none got on your actual paint!

I've never had a shiny frame, mine have always been matte black. That said, Simple Green is my go to cleaner for everything on my truck, especially the engine bay. Interesting to know though.

I've had lots of simple green on my paint before, it won't affect the clear coat at all. The underside doesn't have a clear coat to protect the top layer of paint, so this may account for why it dulled down after cleaning.

Good to know. I use it for non-truck purposes. That makes sense about the clear-coat. AND, Cd.... we all think you have a shiny frame!

i too use simple green as a goto cleaner...especially in the engine bay.

some have reported a caustic or etching type action on some aluminum in the engine, but i've yet to experience it...

Any new aluminum part that I install gets a coat or two of automotive clear coat... best way to protect parts from oxidization.
