Headrests are killing me..

Ok so almost to the year mark in my 1500 Crew and I absolutely hate having my headrests that are so slanted forward. Other than taking a vise and bending them back are there any aftermarket solutions that work? Are they interchangeable with prior years?

Any help is great, thanks! :4-dontknow:

They are not interchangeable with headrests that don't have what I call the "government bend' in them. One of our mod gurus, Ausr, put them in a vice and said it came out pretty good. So, I would go with the vise method to rid your truck of the government bend.

I hated my headrests from the day i bought it. Only solution I found was to move them to the top setting which at least made them tolerable. Something to try if you haven't already. I will have to try the vice option when I make it back to CO.

I believe that you have other choices too
I just turned my 2009 headrests around & i can live with them that way
some others have taken out the back seat headrests & put them in the front seats
that leaves the rear seats without headrests

if you decide to bend the posts, i would slide a pipe over the posts & put the pipe in the vice
it would keep the posts from having vice marks & you would get a nicer bend

i have some pix from another '09
i believe that they were doing a headrest swap

I tend to drive "up on the wheel" meaning I do not rest my head on them when I am driving. But when just sitting in the truck, and leaning my head on them, I can see how they would become annoying. Strange design to say the least.

It took me months to get used to mine and now I quite like them....but man the 3 or 4 months of getting used to them was pure torture!

Very first thing I did to my Ram was switch the front and rear headrests. Thought it was a pretty simple solution but I don't have rear seat passengers usually. I also looked into getting a pair of rear headrests, to replace the front, from a salvage yard. Hope that helps.

One of the first things my salesman showed me was to turn them around.

I guess that I'm in the minority, as I've never noticed an issue with the head rests. But then it could be a height issue, as I'm not the most vertically gifted person around :D
