EcoDiesel Tuners?

Since a lot of the tuner manufacturers participate in this site; I was wondering if anyone will confirm to be working on a model for the upcoming 3.0l diesel.

I'm due to replace my '12 LH this spring which I tow my 31' TT (8000 lbs).
Just worried about the low HP of the diesel when going up long hills. Right now my HEMI will go 65mph up any hill but in 3rd gear at 4500rpm.

You'll be waiting a while for a programmer. The tuning companies have to do a lot of R&D on the new engine as well as deal with the new EPA legislation regarding diesel emissions that has already put Edge into Chapter 11.

The ED isn't even out yet, so there's going to be a wait... As for pulling power... It's not the HP, it's the torque... Torque at low RPMS, will allow the engine to run at a lower RPM...

FYI... the formula to HP is: (Torque * RPM) / 5252

even though the ED has less than 1/2 the hp, it has roughly the same torque. It will keep up just fine w/ the hemi w/o downshifting as much!
I recall riding in a 160 hp/ 400ft/lb 1st gen pulling 30K#'s!
and IIRC the ED is higher rated in both depts so I have no doubts it will pull a 8K trailer just fine!

Just get the Cummins... Would you rather had ED or Cummins? LOL :D

IMHO I would do the ED if it was already out, I don't really need a 1 ton. a 1/2 ton would serve me just fine and get better mileage! and it sounds like the OP is the same.

Lol. How things have changed. When I started driving the 7.3 pstroke was the big dog at 225 horsepower. I used to tow 20k worth of hay bales all over the back country with my 7.3 idi 185 horsepower.

If the Hemi didn't have 390 I bet the ED would still look pretty powerful.

Europe already has tuners for this diesel.

Probably if you do a search here you will find info related to it as it has been posted in the 2014 section. I am pretty sure that it was said that the same PCM will be used here as in Europe so hopefully it won't take a long time for a tuner to show up.

Hard decision

Right now I'm leaning toward the ED.
But the Cummins is whispering in my ear and doesn't go away.
I used to pull the same RV with a '12 MB ML350 BluTech. It actually pulled it easier than the Ram; believe it or not....

Thanks for everyone's input

This is very interesting to me. In stock form the EcoDeisel is ho hum at best. However if with only a tuner the Euro version is reliably pulling 315hp and 520ftlbs out of this engine, now I am intersted. And on top of it they are claiming up to 15% increase in MPG, that brings it up to over 30 mpg highway! A turbo back exahust, Intake and programming should in theory safely get this engine to the 330-350 hp range and 520-550 tq. To me that makes for one hell of a half ton powerplant. :beerchug:
