The best truck cap; quality and appearance

Who makes the best truck cap. I like the frameless glass look in a cab high model. The front runners are Century, ARE, Leer.
Looking for quality first, good look second.

I ordered an A.R.E. MX last weekend and am eagerly awaiting it. I looked at quite a few and liked the design/options on the A.R.E. best. I wanted slightly higher than the cab, but not a huge difference, and I also wanted win-doors on the sides, so A.R.E. seemed the best option and I like the way they look. I was also originally drawn to their full rear lift gate option with "walk-in" door that replaces the tailgate, but I ultimately decided to just go with a standard rear window instead.

Don't have too much experience with caps other than that. We have a Leer on the F-150 I use most of the time at work and it's fine - there are a few other local fire service pickups with them too, but I think that's mostly because that's what our local dealer sells (had to go to San Jose to get my A.R.E.). Have heard about a few leak problems from one department, but nothing major.

Had a SnugTop tonneau on my old personal F-150 - it was fine too, but seemed like the fit/finish wasn't quite right. It rubbed my bed rails badly in a few spots and the hinge setup always seemed a bit cheesy to me.

Leer have an outstanding reputation and the one I had on a previous truck looked great and held up very well. If I were to buy another, it would be a Leer.

I am a huge leer fan. I also like the solid glass side windows. I put the same color matched leer 100xl on my 2005 & 2008 Ram. The solid, frameless side windows look great and you can crank them out a few inches in the bottom rear corner for cross ventilation in the summer which also looks sweet. The removable frame front window option is great making it easy to clean between the truck glass and cap. The other upgrade option I would never go without is the electric lock. My cap locks whenever I lock my truck.

I purchased the same series cap for my 2010 Ram (black) and the only issue I have ever had is the rear window/door shocks wear out every 1 1/2 years but this is only because I drive around with it open for my dog who loves to look at everyone around. The good news is the shocks are warranted for five years so replacing them has never been an issue. I also got the top rails with Thule quick connect brackets so I can put the cross bars on only when I need it.

If I ever buy another truck I will definitely buy another leer the week I bring her home.

Researched this extensively recently. Leer or Snug Top are the only two choices for best quality. The Leer XQ is what I went with, only cap with a solid, one piece, window on the sides.

XQ or XL

I love the look of the XQ but I do not like the full length window screen on the inside. The XL is almost as nice. I think that is the one. I was definately favoring a Leer.

SoCal Ram, how much did the xq cost you? If you don't mind me asking. I was looking at them online yesterday but wasn't able to get a price. Also how easy would it be to remove and reinstall? During hunting season I haul a atv in the bed of my truck.
