Lifting Help Please!!
Im pretty new to the forum and to the science of lifting your truck. Im very eager to do it but I want to make sure I buy the right stuff and make it work! Perhaps you could be of assistance? Ive posted before but I have new considerations as to what I want to do... advice is much appreciated, thank you!
My truck is a 2005 Ram 1500 4WD QC Laramie (as pictured below)
-Full alpine sound
-K&N cold air intake
-Flowmaster series 40 exhaust
-35% tint all around
-20" helo 835 wheels wrapped in 35" nitto terra grapplers
-8000k HID Heads/Fogs
-Spyder LED taillights
Ive looked at many trucks online and on the forums to get some ideas. The main thing I want to have is 37"-38" tires. In order to have that I would need at least 8" of lift... so this is what I have in mind:
-6" suspension lift
-3" body lift
-37x13.5x22 toyo mts
-22x12 -44 fuel nutz
*Another consideration would be to be to run 37x15.5 tires, would that work with this setup or is it too wide?
What are your guys thoughts on body lifts? It seems like all I hear is bad things about them... mainly just that they can cause body roll and throw off the balance of the truck. Plus stacking things up can effect ride quality and alignment, right?
What would you recommend the best way is to get to 8"-9" with a 6" suspension lift? Ive read about adding leaves, coil spacers, and spindles but Im not exactly sure what they are and how they work with the suspension? What about upper and lower control arms? Also would you recommend dual stabilizers in the front and traction bars? Any other things I should add to the package? How would I level the front with the back, would I need a leveling kit or can I adjust the shocks or something?

Here's a link to a thread recently posted by a forum member who is running a very similar set up to what you're thinking. Check it out and read through the details. It should answer quite a few of your questions.
if your considering doing some serious off roading with your truck i would consider going to a smaller rim and taller sidewall. alot less chance of doing rim damage on rocks or trail debris. i have seen alot of guys that like the look of the bigger rims but they have destroyed wheels due to not having enough sidewall. or they just can't air down enough to get real good traction.
Body lifts are a lot more work than people think, having to replace cables, brake lines linkages for trans, I would shop around and buy a good quality suspension lift, that includes all pitman arm and spacers for front end
