There are allot more options now for tuners than offered before. whats your experience? Gas milage, throttle response, torque, towing?

hypertech (max Power/Max econ)
superchips (cortex/vivid/flash paq)
Bullydog
Diablo (Trinity/Diablo)
Edge (evo HT/evo CS/ Evo CTS

I've only owned the Superchips, but I am pleased with it so I voted for it. I have heard lots of good things about the Diablo, but have no experience with it.

Man it sucks having a 2013,wished i had the tuner options you guys have, lol

superchips is the best canned tune for the 4.7, especially the 08+ 4.7. I believe Edge/superchips are the same company actually.

I've only used SC, but it was on a highly modified car. I wonder what it does or does not do to a mostly stock 07 or earlier 4.7.

SuperChips

I didn't vote because I only used the SC and have nothing to compare it to. I do like the SC. I just updated it and doing research for shift schedules.

I had a hypertech on my hemi and the performance with the premium tune was pretty good. My issue was the lack of other tuning options that it gave. I just got a superchips for my 08 4.7 and I love it. The options are numerous and the performance across the board with all the tunes are very noticeable.

what do you mean by "canned" tune?

snrusnak 01-25-2014 12:19 PM

"canned" tunes are ones that are not tuned for your specific vehicle, they are "one size fits all". So what they do is they take a say 2010 ram 4.7L and make a tune for it then sell that tune to everyone out there. It's a good tune, but theoretically not as good as putting your specific vehicle on the dyno and tuning it.

For example, they use stock vehicles to make canned tunes. These tunes work great with intakes/exhausts/etc. But if you have aftermarket cam(s), long tube headers, or other radical mods you'd need a custom tune.

I have very few performance mods and the superchips is great. I actually got a custom tune at one point(web order....not dyno tune) and it wasn't any better than the superchips.

I have the bullydog for my 2012 and it did make a difference.
