Also interested.
Plus, how do I know if shock replacement is necessary? They don't leak, infrequent towing, bought new in 2003 and only 57,000 miles.

most people are running the bilstein 5100's in order to level their rides out. I also did this but on the flip side it improved my ride 10 fold and mine is a 2011. As far as when you change your shocks there can be a few different hints that you need new ones. Usually your ride will have more of a bounce, your corning can get sloppy. You notice the back end sag a big more when loading it. That's more spring than shock though. When I replaced the shocks on a dakota I had I just replaced them because I got a good deal on new ones. Ride seemed ok and everything. Turned out they were completely shot. No rebound what so ever. That was a 2004 and I replaced those three years ago. Chances are you need new ones. Bilstein makes an excellent product. I prefer them over rancho any day. Get them from Bully's Performance. Great deal and more important.....really really good customer service.

Thanks for the quick response and very good advice ... also appreciate the reference for purchasing the shocks.
Bilstein's came as RPO's on my 1993 Corvette so I trust the brand.

I know that i need to get my shocks replaced, i can feel the road more then i ever could before, i am at 97,800 miles on the odometer
i never towed, but my truck weighed 5,300 pounds completely empty
with me in it & my normal equipment in the cab & bed, it weighs 6,300 pounds, that is without any gas in the auxiliary gas tank, weighed at a Public Weigh Station

C my post on new issues with my ram,,,My front left shock is completly blown after 32 k miles,,,,you can c the fluid dripping out the bottom....but if they r not leaking and can improve ur ride as much as stated,,,I'd do it regardless,,,

So if you use the 5100's is there a chance after leveling the truck out to get the "wobble" I always hear about?Which is better from the Blisteins, the 5100's or the heavy duties? The ride in my truck is terrible.

bilsteincanada.com {Essex distributors}. Great prices, fast delivery. You're gonna love em. Plus it raises the truck.

paul2112 11-18-2013 02:42 PM

It raises the truck? Not sure if I like that or not... Are these shocks only for the 4x4.? Stopped in at 4wheel parts store yesterday and they couldn't find them listed for the ram 2x.. Any parts numbers by any chance? Thanks
