random exhaust questions. Hole drilling
I have the stock exhaust on a 2001 sport 5.2L, I want to make it sound just a taddd more deep and throaty.

Obviously the answer for that is to get a new muffler or a glasspack or something like that. BUT thats not in the budget, even a cheap one.

So can I drill some holes somewhere in the muffler or the pipes?
If so, what diameter?
where at?

Ive heard that drilling hold causes like, internal rusting or something like that.
Well the outside is really rusty and falling apart, so a new muffler of something like that will be happening between 1-2 years. hopefully before 1. buttttt yeah.

So will drilling be okay for now?

Also, will that affect gas millage anyway? I think I already have a leak somewhere because you can kinda hear the exhaust coming out from the side.

Would that leak affect anything important? how do you find/fix that leak?

No offence, man, but I think you'd better get some more automotive savvy before you start cutting up your truck...........

It sounds as if your muffler is already rusted. Drilling can allow water to collect inside and rust even more. If a new muffler is not within your budget I suggest you wait before you make a permanent change. I got my Thrush glasspack for about $40. A few clamps and a hanger or two and altogether it was around $60- 70 dollars. Replacing a stock muffler that you ruined by drilling holes in it could cost much more. I advise you to wait. I don't know a whole lot about trucks, but I crawled under mine and got my glasspack on in less than three hours. I used a hacksaw to cut it off. Research installation of new mufflers and research hole drilling. See what you come up with.
