Hit a deer, minimal front bumper damage - New Bumper?
3 Attachment(s)
Hit a deer this morning. I am EXTREMELY lucky that there was very minimal damage...

I'm just wondering if it would be cheaper and less hassle to just buy a new bumper and install it myself rather than deal with the insurance company...

Where can I get a bumper for my Ram?

Perhaps if you put on the factory tow hooks, some how you could conceal the damage. If you buy a new bumper, you'll have to paint it, I don't know, I mounted a winch on the front of my Ram, hehe.

Yup, agree, if you buy a new bumper somewhere it will come basically primed and you have to paint it, call these guys and find out, there site says a black bumper is 281$

Or maybe since you have deer around you could buy one thats deer proof, they go for around 1000-1200$

Did u at least bring the deer home for dinner?

That sucks. Ebay has some bumpers as well but you will have to get it painted. You could probably just check at a body shop and let them know your paying out of pocket and sometimes they will cut you a good deal.

Thanks everyone very much for your help!!

It was a small deer, and I definitely did bring it home, and got some meat in my freezer ;)

So I called insurance and they gave me a list of places that are guaranteed, and I took it in and they said "Are you sure you hit a deer?!" because the damage is so minor, haha. Anyway, they quoted me $800 total, and my deductible is $500. So I think I'm just going to pay the $500 and be done with it, the body shop said it would be a quick job since it's just installing a new bumper.

And it gives me a reason to take a few of the 40 days of leave I've accumulated at work! Woohoo!

they are just going to replace the the bumper cover, its a plastic piece that makes everything look good

the insurance company will gladly cover the cost & then when it is time to renew the policy
you will notice a premium increase of something like $10 a month
10 X 12 months is $120 a year

best that you just pay for the damage yourself
the insurance company does not put a mark against your claims & you have a beautiful Ram

I have a 2009 Ram, $1,000,000 insurance coverage
i just paid my auto body shop $4200 in cash for body damage & a repaint
my insurance won't go up & my Ram looks like it just came off the dealerships sales lot

sometimes it is just better to bite the bullet
