Help with tire size please

Hey everybody, im new to this site. I joined because i love trucks and am in need of some help. I have a 2003 ram 1500 2wd that currently has 265/70/17 tires on it. Im getting a 1.5 in leveling kit and 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers on it next monday. I am also keeping the stock 17x7 wheels.
My question is, will the 285s fit on the stock wheel ok. The 4x4 shop that is doing it said they will fit fine. Im not worried about clearance in the wheel well, just worried that the 285 will be too wide for the stock 7 inch wide wheel. Does anyone know if it will be ok or does anyone have 285s of the stock 7 inch wide wheel. Thanks in advance for any answers!

You're 285's should be just fine. Let us know how it goes and post up a pic of the new tires when you get them on along with the lift.

your 285's will be better with around an 81/2 inch wide rim
it will be riding better and be more planted on the road
look at the tires before you buy them and there will be a sticker on them that states the preferred rim should be from 81/2 to 11 inches wide for that tire size.
with a stock 7 inch wide rim you could run them but the tire won't be flat across the tread surface,it will be raised in the middle like a hump.

You'll be fine with the 285's on the stock rims. I wouldn't even think twice about running that size, just go for it.
