So, I just bought a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500-V10 with 92k babied miles. It was very well maintained by retired couple with camper and 5th wheel. So, I'm looking to get more MPG and pulling power from it. Was looking for programmers/tuners, but not sure if thats a good first place to start. Just looking for a good start point for mods. For pulling power and MPG. I know the V10 wasn't made for MPG, but f I can get a lil more out of it would be great. CAI? Exhaust? Point me in right direction. Will be looking to be pulling campers/5th wheels with it. I have pics of it up already. It's already set up with extra leaf springs and air bags. Auto-tranny.

Just wondering, is it possible to put the headers and exhaust out of a srt10 on these v10s in the rams>? would it be worth it?

Oh. also has the 3.54 rear end gears.

I think hemifever does tunes for the v10
Headers, 1.7 rockers, I doubt any of that will help the fuel economy

Viper and SRT10 parts will not fit the ram V10.

I sold my V10 Mag two years ago. I used mine to pull a camping trailer. The two things that I did that helped with HP & MPG were a JET Module & dual exhaust. The JET was night & day difference pulling up hills & mountains & it's plug & play.. Both are inexpensive compared to most mods. Sledpuller is right about the V10 Mag & the V10 Viper, parts don't interchange. Good Luck.

I just put a B&M shift kit in my truck and it made a big difference. I would recommend it for towing to reduce heat buildup. Shifts are a lot firmer, but not too harsh. I installed the Transpak kit 10227 in my '96 V10 with the 47RE trans and elected to go with the "heavy duty" level of shifting as opposed to the street/strip. This kit involves removing the whole valve body and disassembling it, so it's not for the faint of heart. I'm no trans expert, just your average home mechanic, so it can be done for sure. It was worth it!

While in there, I found a fairly heavy duty spring that was broken and not doing much. The kit had a replacement for it. And you can adjust your front and rear bands while you're at it.
