Heater Fan Not Working At All
I have a 2008 Ram 1500 Quad Cab and when I started it up this morning the heater fan would not come on at all. It was working fine yesterday and I have not had any issues with it in the past. Hoping it may be just a fuse or something. Any other ideas of a possible cause?

Hi, I would start by trying all the fan speeds, if only a couple speeds work you need a "blower fan resistor" located near your fan blower or attached to the blower (usually under the dash passenger side). If nothing works, checked for 12V+ power (ignition ON and blower switch on any speed) at the blower connector, if you dont have power at all checked your fuse, if you do have power and nothing works unplug the blower connector and plug it back, sometimes the blower starts working again but it means it needs replacement anyways.
99% of the times it's either "the blower fan" or the "blower resistor", I've been a mechanic for 16years now and never had any wiring issues, sometimes the switch is defective but rarely.

ditto to what frenchy said. I think I blew 3 or 4 resistors on my 2004 dakota. eventually they determined the wiring harness going to the motor needed replacing. must have been a short in it. no problems till the day I sold it.

I replaced the blower motor myself this morning and all is working again. Easy 15 minute swap out. Thanks for the reply frenchy.

check for recalls and TSB's if it happens again. I believe there was some kind of service message on these trucks to run a larger gauge wire from the ignition circuit to the blower motor. Im not certain on the years, but I know that my 2002 had it done. The original wires are dead in the harness and the dealership installed 2 new wires.
