heater/ water pump/ temp gauge

Well on friday the 24 my water pump went completely out on my 2002 ram 1500. slt 4x4 w/ a 360. got in changed out with a brand new one. Afterwards the temp gauge went way hot quick then down to just above cold. Then I had no heat at all. Next day I changed out the thermostat. ( yes correctly) still no change. I got the air out of the heater core which gave me very little heat on low. but still no change on temp gauge. All radiator lines get very hot except the inlet line at the bottom. I drove it on the highway for 45 minutes and I could still open the cap and put my finger in the radiator. THE DAMN ANTIFREEZE WAS STILL COLD. Come on RAM ers. Help me. Its 60 today, but 23 tomorrow. I need heat and it fixed right

Did you get the belt on the water pump going the correct way?

changed water pump

I just finished changing my water pump this weekend since the weather allowed it. Are you sure your pump is working? Mine had the same symptoms before I changed mine, cold antifreeze, rad cap could be removed, etc. I changed my tstat, cross over/bypass hose, rad cap. I have a 5.9 L gas and refilled with just under 2 gallons of antifreeze/water 50/50 mix. Stupid question, along with the belt question, when you put the fan blade back on? (front toward the front and not reversed?), you installed it correctly? Did you use too much RTV sealant and it leaked into the pump? just some thoughts. good luck.
