2012 mods
Ive decided to change my gears. Which ones are for better take off? some one mentioned 4.88. My truck is two wheeled drive.

Not an expert on the topic but to my understanding if you drive your 4.88's on the highway/freeway 60-75 MPH the RPM's are gonna be pretty high thus your gas mileage will suffer but for the track yeah 4.88's would be fun, as an everyday driver your probably gonna spend alot of time at the gas station.

To use 4.88's is gonna cost you a bunch of money.
As far as i know the carrier needs machining etc.
4.10's are a factory gear, and would be much cheaper to install and live with.
With 4.88's,you'll get to be on a first name basis with all your local gas stations,as you won't be passing all that many of them by;),lol

4.10's with a limited slip, and probably a convertor somewhere around 2800 to 3,000 stall would make a world of differance, compared to stock.
If you can hunt up Darknight on here,i think he has that combo with a 100 horse hit of nitrous, and he's hit the high 13's

^what they said.

what gears do you have now? 3.55 or 3.92?

darknight currently has 3.55, but he just bought 4.10's and lsd. Don't think it's installed yet though. He's also going up to a 150 shot once the swap is done.

LOL,nitrous is addicting.
I thought he had 4.10's when he ran the 13.9, that's pretty steller if he ran those numbers with just 3.55's
I've wondered how good the head clamping is on the 4.7,with just 10 head bolts per bank.
A 150 shot should find out .

You don't need to go any lower (higher numerically, lower ratio) than 4.56's unless you have exceedingly tall tires.

4,56s all day
