2013 3.6 8 sp. recall

Got my recall notice stating my 2013 3.6 8sp. ram may have a faulty transmission output shaft...Right in the recall it states that they will "test" the trans and if it "breaks" they will replace it ...If not there going to send me down the road...Anybody know what this test entails?

Dave S 03-31-2014 06:42 PM

yikes

Holy crap!! I,m not going to let them do that...

Yea so basically, if it goes "BOOM" you get you a new, free transmission.

huntergreen 03-31-2014 06:55 PM

and if it passes the test and goes boom later, do they still fix?

Dave S 03-31-2014 07:01 PM

and if it don,t the whole drive train has been stress tested beyond a lifetime of anything I would ever put my truck through..If they can,t diagnos it without damaging the rest of the drive train they have real issues.

I honestly don't see why they wouldn't as long as it's under warranty.

I had mine in for oil change and we talked about doing the test.
They opted not to as parts were too far away. They figured 7 days before they got the parts, and they can't order until it fails.
I don't care if its a destructive test, rather them do it and find it then my wife and kids to be stranded somewhere.

Sounds really nasty. Doesn't this shorten the life of the components in any way, so it will fail 3-4 years later down the road, but earlier than normal, and of course, out of warranty?
What happened to tracing the serial numbers to a certain batch of trucks and replace them all? Why replace them if they don't fail, but still knowingly being part of a bad batch?
So much for making sure the problem is fixed. I guess they never learn, but slowly they are getting thrown under the bus one by one, toyota, now gm....
