Draining the F**king Radiator
I beleive I have found the petcock on my 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7
I am looking to do a Cooling system flush with a thermostat change. This petcock does not appear to be your typical one. does she screw off? pull off There seems to be a Hex key fitting inside of it. I really want to prevent any expensive weekend warrior mistakes. my automotive skills are only up til the 90's. So I have a Chiltons book for my rig but it does not discuss the draining of the radiator......Really whats the big secret here!!!!!:4-dontknow:

I just pulled a lower radiator hose off. The dealer might be able to punch up a drawing of that drain plug for you.

I use a socket that fits over the fitting, there are 2 tabs on the side of the plug that get squeezed together when you put a socket onto it. You only turn the petcock until the fluid starts coming out slowly, you generally have one full revolution before the thing will fall out on its own and you lose the ability to direct it down through the drain, it will start spraying out of the hole you just created.

Just did my thermostat, and thanks to Kurtis i used a socket.
Found a 5/8" or 16mm deep socket worked good to grab the tabs on the petcock.
Thanks for the heads up Kurtis.
