front end?

this is a repost, inspite of the newcomers some of which being mechanics. i have it looked at and test drove by our mechanic friend, my 03 1500 QC 2wd, sits on the stock 20's. occasionally when cuttin the wheel all the way(which way doesnt seem to matter, happened for both) mainly to the left, i hear a destinct clunk, and kinda feel it too, sometimes more then others. when i had it looked at/test drove they couldnt find anything wrong or hear anything. even when i drive with someone and tell them about it and try to make it make the sound it wont do it.:4-dontknow: anybody with any ideas would be helpful. thanks in advance.

Same problem but no clunk just a squeal when wheels turned full left or right. Any ideas?

03ramhemi 11-05-2008 12:17 AM

if its a squeel maybe a powersteering pump, check fluid. but not sure dont quote me, i always check the fluid. but i just cant figure out the clunk, ANYONE WITH IDEAS????

Honestly, It sounds like a ball Joint. But without looking at it, I'd be pissing in the wind..Inspect it yourself. Can you duplicate it sitting still. Try Torquing it, Or power braking it a little while rotating the wheel back and forth rapidly. Once you figure out how to duplicate it have someone look at it while your duplicating the noise. or vica-versa.

ya ive tryed it in park, nothing happens, but i'll try the powerbraking and quick wheel torque's and get back to you, or do whatever it takes to duplicate the sound.

I had that exact same problem on my last truck. When you turned the wheel sharp during parking I would here a thump sound. Believe it or not the front tires were out of round and the problem went away after replacing the tires.

03ramhemi 11-07-2008 12:29 AM

that might be my problem, ive got a new set of tires im going to be throwing on when winter comes, i'll keep you posted, thanx, thatd be sweet if it was just the tires.
