06 ram 1500 5.7 Hemi
I noticed the other day when sitting in traffic my tach drops to about 200 rpms. no noticable change in the running of the motor miss or stumbling...
So the question is... do any of you experience or have experienced this and or is it a problem...? On older model vehicle I would say something is up but I am not familiar with this gen Dodge.

ok whew, I think...,
I just bought it fri used (43K on it) so... it kinda took me by suprise today when I looked down and saw the tach drop out. Has yours done it since you owned it? have you had your 07' since new? No issues or have you had it looked at from tach drop issue?

yes, sitting at 0 mph. mds does it work at idle? i thought it was just under motion.. light cruising and low/light load. like i said not familiar with new gen and the gizmos that we have today.

Are you sure it's not actually surging. A couple hundred r.p.m.'s might be hard to detect. If it is, Check for vacuum leaks, then scan for codes. If there's throttle control codes you may end up replacing the throttle body, or the accelerator position switch (on the gas pedal) There's no seperate Idle air control on this vehicle. Idle is maintained by an electronic throttle body..
