Poor Heat and AC Airflow

This issue is with both heat and AC equally. When I turn the fan speeds up or down I can hear the fan going and blowing at the appropriate speeds. It also will switch to all the different areas without issue. Unfortunately though, the top airflow I can get is roughly equal to the lowest setting (if everything was working ok). I brought it in to the dealer and they think it is a/the doors inside, but estimate the cost at roughly $1000 due to 8 hours labor. Please say there is an easier and/or cheaper way? Is there an air filter somewhere that I can easily get to? Is there an intake to the system that I can check out?

I am not a mechanic to say the least, but know enough to be able to follow instructions on what to try. I friend and I tried to take the dash apart and had it in a million pieces, but couldn't figure out how to get to and or check out where those doors may be in that black unit behind the glove box. :4-dontknow:

Oh yeah, it is an 03 Dodge Ram.

To get to the blower and cage, would I have to take the dash apart again or is it something I could get to either thru the glove box or from underneath it? It is extremely frustrating being here in Canada and having to let the engine run for an extra 10 or so minutes to clear the windshield of ice/frost.

So how do I get to the blower on my 03 Ram? Can I do it myself or is it a dealer thing?

Pick you up a tech manual from your local parts store, it will show you a step by step how to pull it down and put it back together and it will have pics there to show you. Getting to the motor is easy because its on the firewall under the hood if I remember right. A/C and heater work are very easy to fix and work on and to tell the truth, the tech that would have work on your truck would be paid flat rate (which means if dodge says this job takes 5 hours then that is how many hrs he gets paid no matter how long it take) and probly would have took about a hour to a half hour to fix, but you would still pay the full time.

the o3 blower is right under the passenger side of the dash look up from the floormat and its right there
