running rich
i am running rich, getting about 150 mile/tank(35gal), aside from a full tuneup, how could i get better mileage and keep my power?

DesertDog 12-31-2008 02:43 PM

wuts an 8L ? v-10

i had a buddy that had the V-10 1500 he never got better than 8 miles t.g.

but 4.5 to the gal is not good no matter wut the Liter is

anything else you can list about the trk like have yu done anything to it,
ie: lift kit, bigger tires, ?

has the mass air-flo sensor ever been cleaned,, that tells the computor how much fuel to let in to mix with the air. if its reading wrong it will sense in most cases not enough fuel and will allow more fuel to come in. causing wut you call to run rich...?

well i bought it about 3 weeks ago, so i dont know much about it yet. it was an Indiana EPA truck (i know, very hypocritical), it had a leveling kit put on it, and thats all that i know of. every thing else is stock, that i know of.

oh and yes it is a 4x4 dont know the gearing

Burkdadhemi 01-01-2009 09:13 PM

I know that the 2 wheel drives w/3:73 get around 10 mpg hwy.

Well, how many miles on the truck?

That kind of mileage leads me to believe that maybe the injectors need to be cleaned or replaced. They are letting too much fuel into the cylinders. Try cleaning them first with a good fuel additive.
