04 5.7 1500 mods/questions
First Post/Thread

well i finally purchased the truck i've been chasing after :smiley_thumbs_up: a 04 ram 1500 hemi (black). i think this truck is the most amazing vehicle i've ever had.
first of all after driving the truck off the lot i started noticing a clicking noise ( not zip tie clicking) when i turn the steering wheel at low speeds it will click between 2-5 times then maybe one while driving when suspensin hits a bump. any ideas where to start looking would be great.

Second up is going to be the modifications. i already like the truck the way it is. power and looks it had it all. im looking for subtle modifications to give it an even more agressive look with height and tires. Ive also been reading up on diablo and Superchips. im not completly dumb when it comes to engine management so from what i've heard diablo gives you a wider playing field for messing with parameters on te truck. but for the low price of a suprchips flashpaq can you get the same performance and extended gas mileage.

try and keep this thread alive and i invite anyone to post questions about this year and make of truck.

Congrats on the truck. I have been reading a lot lately about the diablo and transmission issues.

well i can see where messing around with shift points can put allot more strain on thoes already worn gears. i do want to have more power obviously but i dont want to take a risk my truck has 105k on it. i have really been looking hard at the superchips flashpaq it has alot of good reviews and seems to be a dream... should i spend the cash?

I have the Superchips 3815. I don't like to drive the truck without a tune installed. It's addicting!!! I had removed the tune so I could see what it would do for my wife's Durango, 03 4.7. It made it fun to drive! She liked it so I left it on for a week. In the meantime my truck was boring to drive without it. So I'm looking for a good deal on one for the wife. I think it's a great bang for the buck.

sounds good i guess im pretty sold on getting one
im looking for a good tire wheel combination that will give my truck a better stance without destroying my wallet :att: any good websites for packegs or just tires.

haha well after another hour on the computer i ran across Bullydog powerpup gas downloader and an edge evolution programer how about this time everyone just give me your outlook on the different programers and which one might be the best.

Well, having compared a SuperChips to a Predator on a friend's 5.7L powered Ram, and having one installed on my Chrysler; I'd say the flexibility, program features and added power favor the Predator over the SuperChips unit. And, I believe the price difference is made up with those differences.

I've delved deep into the workings of the Predator and have one on my 2006 Chrysler 300C SRT8. With the ability to select different octane value tunes, adding fuel to a lean running engine, set spark and WOT knock retard settings, loading custom tunes from a tuner or having a CMR tune done and kept on the tool, the flexibility of the Predator far and away outshines the canned tunes available on other units.

I have managed to increase my RWHP from a dyno measured 368 HP to 404 HP...and I have a bit more tuning to do. This is was done on a stock engine. The only mods outside of the tune is a cold air intake and Magnaflow exhaust. No engine internals have been touched.

So, I say Predator...but then again, what do I know? ;)

I had the Superchips on my Chrysler and changed to the Diablo. I liked it a lot better and when they make one for the 09 Ram, I will get one for sure!
