HELP??? Have an AC control problem

I bought my first Dodge truck last year and have enjoyed the truck very much. It's a 1998 with 180,000 miles.

Last summer It developed a problem with the AC. It blows good cold air but sometimes I can hear something in the dash closing and the entire air flow stops. The fan keeps blowing but nothing comes out. It does this on the vent setting as well. Is there something that closes off the entire air flow from the plenum? Is it servicable. Anyone ever heard of this problem?

I appreciate any help or advice. I'd hate to have to dump a ton of cash into it at a dealer but I sure could use some AC when those steamy summer days finally return.

Peace

The Blend/Mixer Door inside the controller is closing off. This is a common issue/problem with the 2nd and early 3rd Gen Dodges. Do a search on Google for it and you will find a million listing. Good Luck, and with the right tools you will be able to replace the unit on a good Sat :smiley_thumbs_up:

I'm on my third unit... the last one, so the dealer told me, is the updated item ... so far, so good!

Just to chime in. I brought my 06 ram in to fix the back window as the pully system keeps breaking on me and I asked them about the air. I told them it sounds like it is blowing like crazy but barely anything is coming out. Well he told me this is very common with these trucks and that it is the door that was brought up in the other post. He told me dodge covers the whole repair minus 100.00 i have to pay as a deductible. so may want to bring it in and have them fix it for you. beats taking the dash off yourself.

although I am not sure how far back they go and if yours would be covered. didnt think about the year difference.
