Cruise Control Question....

My father has an '04 Ram and his cruise control only works up to about 85-86 mph (cruise control will not engage past that nor will it accelerate past that once it is engaged). Is this normal for that year ram? I have an '08 and my cruise control works past that for sure.

Is there a way to change or turn off the limiter?

no it shouldnt be doing that or at least ive never seen it but maybe its a safety deal

Never heard of that .

Thats pretty much standard for any cruise control. The system uses vacuum from the engine once you go past a point the vacuum can't be use to hold the system on. Your owners manual should say something about it.

lol well that would be the case in the old systems but the new ones actually use the iac motor and such so vaccum is not used anymore could be a sensor like the brake switch which will shut it off if u hit the brakes maybe loose

Speed limiter perhaps???
