Help Please! Need 96 Ram Fuel Tank ASAP

Hello! We are new here. Here's our problem. In June we bought a used 1996 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.2L, V8, extended cab, short box truck ("As Is"), took it straight to the gas station and found that the fuel tank had a couple of holes in it. One was fixed "farmer" style with a screw inserted into it. Not happy, we took it to the Dodge dealer's garage. They have had it almost two months now waiting for the fuel tank. It is apparently on back-order. We really need this truck in a week and a half to haul our horse trailer.

We have checked with the local junk yards & on Craigslist for a used tank with no luck. Can anyone tell us where else to look or what to do?

Thanks in advance!

Really - no one has any suggestions? Come on guys - help a gal out here.

Just talked to the repair guy at the Dodge dealership & they are finally looking for a used tank but with no luck. All he could do was apologize. How can there be such a shortage of fuel tanks in this world? (Yes, now I'm just venting - its what we girls do when frustrated. For guys that don't know this yet, you just nod your head and say uh-huh. LOL) OK - done venting.

Does the tank have to be specifically for a 96 Dodge 1500 short-box, extended cab? Can it be from a 97 Dodge 1500 long-bed, regular cab? Or whatever? Please...some one answer. ;-)

Thanks...

I checked out the site - lmctruck.com. They have lots of parts, but no fuel tanks. Thanks for the site, tho. I've saved it to my favorites in case something else comes up.
