2009 TSBs

As we find the TSBs for the '09s let's post them here. I copied the one I knew of to start this off. Please keep this for '09 Rams only (or unless it applies to all Rams then I can sticky that in the appropriate area).

2009 Dodge Truck RAM 1500 2WD V8-5.7L

Vehicle Level Technical Service Bulletins All Technical Service Bulletins Wheels/Tires - Vehicle Vibration/Shake At Highway Speed Wheels/Tires - Vehicle Vibration/Shake At Highway SpeedNotesNUMBER: 22-001-09
GROUP: Wheels/Tires
DATE: Pending Approval
SUBJECT:
Vehicle Vibration Or Shake At Highway Speed
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin provides information to diagnose vehicle vibration concerns at or during PDI or if the vehicle is stored for a length of time prior to delivery.
MODELS:
2009 (DS) Ram Truck (1500)
DISCUSSION:
Tires used on the 1500 Ram models can develop a temporary flat spot when sitting on the lots and or while being shipped. This condition is more prevalent on 4 x 4 Models with 20" tires and wheels due the additional weight on the front tires from the unique components (i.e., front axle and transfer case). Weather is a critical factor and temperatures significantly above and below normal temperatures can temporarily "flat spot tires when vehicles are shipped by car hauler or rail or if vehicles are stored for an extended period. The vibration may be felt in the steering wheel and I or seat, and may be most noticeable at highway speeds, 60mph (96 kph). This may be misinterpreted as an out of balance tire.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the tires are flat-spotted due to shipping or sitting in the lot for an extended period, the vehicle vibration will go away after the tires are warmed up, (normally 10 to 20 miles of highway driving depending on outside temperatures).
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.Road test vehicle 10-20 miles to allow the tires to obtain operating temperature.
2.If highway driving doesn't resolve the vehicle vibration, follow the procedures outlined on DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT > Group 22 - Tires and Wheels.
NOTE :Replacing tires should only be done as a last resort after all appropriate wheel and tire diagnostics have been completed. U.S. dealers can contact the MOPAR tire program if assistance is needed with obtaining any tire. Canadian dealers can contact the MOPAR tire program if assistance is needed with obtaining any tire.
POLICY:
Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.

How and where to file a complaint

Filing an Official Consumer Complaint about Your Car
Why File Your Complaint
The U.S. Department of Transportation encourages consumers to file an official complaint of record with them when the suspect safety issues with their model car. This information will be entered into National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) vehicle owner's complaint database and used with other complaints to determine if a safety-related defect trend exists.

Your complaint is important in determining if further action is needed to investigate the possibility of a recall.
How Your Complaint is Handled
If a safety-related defect is determined to exist by NHTSA in a motor vehicle or item of motor vehicle equipment, the manufacturer must fix it at no cost to the owner. Your complaint is the first step in the process.

Government engineers analyze the problem. If warranted, the manufacturer is asked to conduct a recall. If the manufacturer does not initiate a recall, the government can order the manufacturer to initiate a recall.

There is not a specific number of complaints which need to be filed before a problem is investigated.
Steps to File Your Complaint
There are two ways you can file an official complaint about a model car with NHTSA.
FILE ON-LINE: You can file your official complaint directly on-line by clicking here.

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

FILE BY PHONE: Call the DOT Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236) while a NHTSA representative will record your complaint and other pertinent information.
The Privacy Act of 1974 - Public Law 93-579
As Amended: The information that will be requested pursuant to the authority vested in the National Highway Traffic Safety Act and subsequent amendments. You are under no obligation to respond to this questionnaire. Your response maybe used to assist the NHTSA in determining whether a manufacturer should take appropriate action to correct a safety defect. If NHTSA proceeds with administration enforcement or litigation against a manufacturer, your response, or statistical summary thereof, may be used in support of the agency's action.
