Project for the weekend.
One thing I absolutely hate...

The range of the key fob. I've been told that if you hold it to your chin, you can achieve a farther range. I don't want to look like an idiot.

I've seen various ways to modify it, and this weekend I am going to solder on a wire, which will in turn act as an antenna and should achieve another 30 feet or so.

Once completed, i'll write up a DIY for our fobs, so that you guys can perform this mod aswell.

I'd be interested in the results. I wonder if the length of the wire is going to throw off the tune of the antenna in the fob? Only trying it will tell.

Interesting... wonder if a coil inside the fob as the antenna would help with range...

Will do guys. From what i've seen, it works on other cars. I don't see why it wouldn't work on our fob's

Why is the current range an issue?

Sounds very interesting and yes holding it to your chin is supposed to increase the range. I know someone that does it all the time. I myself have never tried it though.

If I forget to lock it, I'll have to be like 5 feet away from the truck, and if i'm already in school, well thats a 5 minute walk out to the lot again. Cars get stolen around her a lot. I just want to atleast catch it early, and do it from 30 feet or so you know?

You got around to trying this yet? I'm kinda curious as to how it turned out.
