2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Engine Idle up and down on cold start

Yes,

When stating the truck in the morning on a cold start the engine idles up and down till it warms up. Idles between 1 and 3 RPM's.

Weird. Anyone else had similar issue?

Ok, I read on here to turn the key three times to get the code.

Got P1281 Code "Engine not warming up properly" or something like that.

Lots of info on this code. Could be thermostat, malfunctioning ECT Sensor....I'll have to see if my dad put a 180 termostat in it. I see lots of people have switched from 195 to 180 and it throws this code.

Will post results. I should be able to work on truck this weekend.

Just updating post. Truck is garage kept so it really hasn't been an issue. I still have yet to fix. Still have code when I turn the ignition three times, but at this point I'll probably wait till spring to fix myself when it's warm out since their is really no mechanical failure.

You most likely have a stat stuck open and a dirty throttle body and IAC passages.
