Louder with new muffler only?

Hey all. I picked up an 05 ram almost a month ago. I love it but would like it to be a little bit louder. Can I achieve it by adding only a flowmaster muffler? If so, would my stock tailpipe bolt onto it or would I have to have it welded on? I'm illiterate when it comes to mechanic stuff, so forgive me.

Yes indeed it will make it louder. as a matter of fact, besides the catalytic converter and resonator, the only difference on a cat-back exhaust system is a muffler. Some systems have a resonator, but not all.

Ontop of being louder, your car will have a completely different tone. Usually for the better.

And it is MUCH cheaper.

sweet. what about the cherry bomb mufflers? do they sound ok by themselves?

Well, that depends on what style. Cherry bomb glass packs might as well be straight pipes, extremely loud. The others get quieter, and sound good as well. Can't go wrong.

Magnaflow is pretty loud

Flowmaster is kinda poppy.

What about installation? Is it as simple as unbolting the old and bolting on the new or is there cutting and welding involved?

I think you have to weld it on, if you take a look under your truck you'll see that there aren't any sections that simply unbolt. At least on my truck there aren't. Take a look underneathe and be sure.

Yeah, you would mostlikely have to cut. You can buy exhaust clamps and clamp the muffler on, but welding is recommended.

On my old truck it cost $205 to buy a flowmaster 40 series (95) And 110 to cut the old muffler out and weld the new one in.

..I went with a magnaflow (I do like it quiet in the cab when others are riding with me) but also have dual cutouts to give it that aggressive sound when i want it...
