Rear Locking Diff Question

Please excuse this question if it seems rather stupid, but this is my first Dodge truck so I'm not familiar with it entirely. I just wanted to know if there is a way of determining whether or not it has a rear locking differential, specifically an electronic rear locking diff similar to GM's Eaton G80 differential. My truck's posted on my profile, an '03 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Crew Cab 5.7L Hemi 4x4. The range select is on the floor unfortunately, not the electronic range select that I would absolutely love to have. It has the 20 inch wheel package, if that helps.

Don't believe so , at least not a factory setup . You should be able to check the label inside your glove box and see if it is equipped with a Sure Grip (posi) .

Ah, so Dodge calls it Sure Grip, eh? Cool. Thanks for the info. I'll take a look!

can you hear it when you turn really sharp, sometimes you have to hit the gas a little

Heh heh! I take turns pretty sharp unless I'm hauling the trailer, and I'm always heavy on the gas. Most of the time all I can hear is the Hemi roaring or the Goth music blasting... :)

I took a look in the glovebox today. I got a locking rear diff! Great stuff! I also have 3.92 gears, and strangely enough a 5-speed automatic? What the hell? I thought Rams only came with a 5-speed auto this year. Hell, if this is true then I definitely can't complain about having the extra cog. :)

hold your foot on the brake and floor the gas if both wheels spin its "posi". if not its a 1 wheel peel.

Where would this glove box sticker be? I looked in my 2006 and don't see one.

I just discovered it has a rear locking differential as mentioned in the glovebox. The sticker is right in the glovebox door, right when you open it up. You can't miss it, unless someone removed it.

It is not a locking differential (if it is factory)...it is a limited slip differential...big difference.

And the GM G80 isn't electric locking either, it is all mechanical.
