Increased fuel consumption

Hi Guys,

I remember reading about something similar maybe on this forum or another one, but I canít find it.
Anyway, hereís my dilemma:
Over the past few months, I have noticed a constant increase in the fuel consumption, both city and highway driving. Nothing changed as far as the route I am driving every day (back and forth from work) or my driving habits (I keep a light foot on the gas). At the beginning I was averaging between14.7l/100km and 15.8l/100km (hand calculated) city driving, while now, no matter what I do, I canít get it under 20l/100km.
As I said, I remember reading something about a module that went bad and needed to be replaced to fix the problem. Anybody had similar problems or can shed some light on the subject?
Few more details about my truck: Bought in May 2009 brand new, to date mileage on board 16000km, 5.7l HEMI 4x4

Thank you,
Chris

I know here in the states we get winter and summer mixtures of fuel. Does that happen up there? I did notice a difference every year in my old TJ, which went from bad to worse in the mileage department. Also are you using the same filling station?

I pretty much use the same gas station (Chevron) close to my home, unless I am far away and I have to use what's avaiable.

I've noticed the same thing on several vehicles over the years and I believe it's the change from summer to winter blends. Additional ethanol mixes basically reduce the number of gallons you can put in your tank (volume per gallon increases with the winter blend) plus the blend is a bit leaner, reducing optimal combustion.

When the summer blends come back in to supply, you should see an improvement.

I know for a fact that Chevron does different blends for certain times of the year.

Oxygenated fuels . It's a winter mix that started several years ago . Normally around February they will stop producing it and your mileage will come back .
