The best people to talk to would be someone who does cylinder head work . If you start getting to big then you need to start making other changes also . Stall convertor , larger throttle body , long tube headers , etc...

what other supporting mods do you plan to do? what will you be using for tuning?

gabe20 11-10-2009 04:02 PM

BFI, flex fan(mabye a e-fan idk), predator, and possibly a 90mm throttle body. I already got dual exhaust.

how computer friendly do you want it...if you want it really friendly you can do 6.1 cam, or comp 260, or a sidewinder cam..... if you want more then you take the risk of makin sure you can tune with it (predator will with custom tunes)... I would talk to Stu at Inertiamotorsports.com (or check out his website), he has various different grinds dependent on what you want for power and where in the powerband you want it... Tell him what you have, what you plan for it and he can suggest a cam for you...

I don't really want to change the stall, and I know I should but I don't want to get headers. Manifolds last longer and I don't have to get my pipes cut. This is just a dd so all my mods are small. Thanks for the site I'll be sure to check it out! appreciate it guys.

Going too big with a cam will make your engine lose a lot of low end power. Be honest with yourself on what you want and the type driving you actually do, for a street driven vehicle you may want just a modest cam to see the powerband in the rpm's you are mostly in. Get with a good mechanic or performance shop, talk with them before you spend money. If the cam profile doesn't match your other engine upgrades you may be badly dissapointed with the outcome... Look at inertia powersports. I recommend the Spartan cam. http://inertiamotorsports.com/camshafts.html

x2 with the spartan... I think out of the 5 fastest qc's (stockblock na) in the 1/4 mile.. 4 of them are runnin the Spartan (or a variant of it)
