McGaughy's 2/4 vs. just coils (ebay)

is it mandatory to have the sway bar end links, trac bar relocator and the bump stops that come in the McGaughy's kit? can I just buy the coil springs found on ebay? guess im just being cheap and allready know the answer...

.....Also, the ground force kit from Stylin doesnt have these other pieces either. And ironically more money than the spindle kit from McGaughy's.

It's all about how you want it to ride. The McGaughy's is their premium kit which basically alters your front end for optimal angles and durability. The coils WILL give you the drop, but can stress other parts of the suspension, such as pre-loading shocks and more stress on bushings due to less dampening from the shocks. The bump stops in the McG kit are shorter than stock and means you don't have to remove the stock, cut them down, then reinstall.

So if I got the McGaughy's kit, I should also buy shocks as well?

I'd recommend it, you'd be amazed at how it smooths out the ride. Though with the '09 independant suspension on all 4 corners you might not have to, I'm used to a rougher ride with my leafsprings. If you can get a set of coil-wrapped lowering shocks it'd be best.

I have the McGaughy's economy kit and LOVE it.

do you have the factory (275/60/20) tires on it? will they fir?

CdnoilRAM 11-23-2009 03:07 PM

Yes the factory 20s fit with a 2/4 drop, any more and you'd have rubbing issues on the inside fender.

should i go McGaughy's Coils, McGaughy's Spindles or the GroundForce Coil kit? which is best ride, handling, looks, price etc? also, GroundForce said the 275/60/20 (33) tire will not work on the 2/4 but McGaughy's said they would. what do you all know on the subject

have the drop coils all around (econo kit) and love it. Still have the stock shocks and it rides great. Note, you CAN leave your stock bumpstops in, but I removed mine (sawzall) as recommended in the instructions for added clearance. I also had 305/40/22s on night runner SRT10 rims with no issues.

I have lowered mine and a friend of mine's 09 CC in my driveway and it really isn't that hard.
