PC Question

Does anybody have any input to the new Windows 7 operating system . Seems like Vista is getting kicked to the curb already . My father is looking at a new laptop and everything seems to be loaded with Windows 7 . I don't know anything about it . Looking for input .

Sorry, don't have any. I haven't played with it or researched it much. Since I will be getting the wife a new laptop for an Xmas present (ssshhhhh...don't tell) I guess I better start looking into it.

Here's some review and resource sites that might help you, Tom, if you wanna investigate further:

its ment to be easier and more stable operating system, I have it on my pc but what can i say windows is windows crashes when it wants clunks errors and needs attention but other days works fine lol.
It is easier and you can run multipul things at once much easier i must admit also lets you use internet better, but its full of big brother softwear in it though if you know what i mean, but there is programs to disable all that stuff.

Personally its far far far better than vista but i still prefer xp as my system for now.

Getting the wife a new laptop for Christmas as well. I better start paying a little more attention.

I agree with Dann, it seems to be OK, but I don't like the way Big Brother is watching everything that I do.

One thing to keep in mind... is your operating system the 32bit version, or the 64bit version? The 64bit (which I chose) is able to use more RAM, and is supposedly faster, but it has the draw back that a lot of the programs currently on the market will not work because it's 64 bit... (like my wife's favorite solitaire game!)

The 32bit is said to only support up to 3GB or RAM, which is why I went with the 64bit (I was figuring that you can never have too much RAM). I'm not sure if the 32/64 bit is what makes a lot of my programs incompatible or not... but I suspect it's a factor.

All that being said.... once you get used to the new layout of Windows 7, I think you'll like it. I've had it about a month now, and I'm still adjusting, but then I tend to want to hold on to what I have and actively resist change.

good luck

Exco

Havent tried it yet, my wifes new laptop came with the free upgrade to it. I run Vista on my work laptop (I really dont like Vista) I run Server 2003 on my office network, and I run XP and Linux on my home computer, but XP is my favorite. I have heard good and bad about 7, but no personal experience.
