Help on Replacing Power steering hose

Hello,

I have a 99 Ram 1500.I have a leak in the high pressure hose. When removing the hose, the fitting, that connects to the pump, came off. I read somewhere if that happens the internal spring and valve parts will fall out of the pump and they cannot be reinstalled properly. If this occurs the pump needs to be replaced with a new pump. Is this true or can I just put the fitting back on?
Thanks for the help

I've had that happen before and I just reassemble them.

Sam here , put the spring back in then the spool valve , then the fitting . I believe the fitting is 1" . Secure that first . Then install the line and tighten to spec .

Thanks Guys. I was careful when removing the fitting so the spring and valve are still inside the pump. Do you think I should remove them or will they still be aligned?

Thanks again

You should be able to just reinstall the fitting as is.
