Tornado in Huntsville , Alabama
My wife got home this evening from work and found out that her sister that lives in Huntsville had a tornado go right over their home . The area is without power and her cell phone was dying . She did say she and the family were safe . Haven't been able to get ahold of them , but found this video on youtube . Looks scary .

Oh man sorry to hear that Tom. Good thing they are ok. Did their home get a lot of damage? Man those warning sirens are freaky!

I'd rather live with hurricanes because at least you get plenty of warning. Those tornadoes are so unpredictable.

Welcome to a fact of life in Alabama. I live in the central part of the state but saw it on the news here. Here is one of our local stations report with more video:

From what I've gathered it did the most damage in the 5-Points area of Huntsville but fortunately only a few people injured. The tornado hit around 5:00 yesterday afternoon so I imagine it was a long night last night if the power went out then. Tell your wife the weather was decent last night AFTER the storm, all day today & tonight so she won't have to worry about that affecting her sister. Hopefully the power folks up there will have sis back on the grid soon.

That was pretty creepy, saw a clip of that this afternoon, and yeah, those tornado sirens always send me chills, but glad to know your family was ok and hopefully their home is, also! Hope you here from them soon! Gotta agree with lamateo, though, would rather have my hurricanes any day, at least you have time to prepare.

I'm glad to hear your wife's family is ok. I know it's a pain to be without power, but the local power company is great about getting it back online quickly.
We had two F1 tornado's from the same storm touch down some 20 miles south of here in sparsly populated areas. Haven't heard of any damage done. Here at the house it rained hard, but not much wind at all. Saturday night is expected to be stormy again...the temperatures have been in the mid 60's which will easily spawn tornado-producing thunderstorms this time of year.
