Tow/haul

when i drive with my overdrive off it will run with the engines rpm will be at 3000 rpm for a little bit then shift to 4th. my question is that is it harmfull to the engine to run at that high of rpm for a minute till it shifts down

RamTech 01-26-2010 08:50 PM

Not at all. The engine can take much higher rpm's for longer periods.

thanks sir i just dont like the excessive shiffting but didnt want the engine to rev to high

RamTech 01-26-2010 08:58 PM

Thats how they all ran before the advent of overdrive.

lol k i tend to worry too much about my truck all my girlfriends get jealous about it

Agreed, no issues running high RPMs. The O/D off holds the shift to keep the engine in the powerband for longer to give you more power for towing. And I hear you about babying the truck, my gf gripes when I spend a whole day working on mine.
