New Exhaust 6.7

Will it make a difference to take the Exhaust from the last pod off and straight pipe it out large? :thk:

Diesel Power Magazine did a build up of a stock 6.7L. They went from the particulate filter back with straight 5" exhaust and said that it offered a little better milage and lowered EGT's but it wasnt much louder than stock.
I dont recall if there was any HP increase but im sure its serveral hundred $ for the system and if you dont have a programmer or other performance parts that would require the motor to have larger exhaust then you need to decide if its worth the money...
I have a Banks 4" system and i like the sound plus my stock exhaust fell off so i figured might as well go bigger.

Good luck with your exhaust. I took all the DPF and cat and muffler off. I made an exhaust flange and put in a piece of 4" where i removed everything else. The exhaust temps are much lower and the sound is just a tiny bit louder. I really can't tell you if going 5" will help you or not. I know that my exhaust feels like it has a lot more air coming out of it now.

I think I read in one of the recent Diesel ??????????? magazines, that going with a larger straight pipe had decreased some of the lower rpm range torque. When I get back home, I will have to try and find that and see if I am remembering right.
