trans grenaded or/and rear axle imploded
ok, so i was driving home the other day. i was accelerating mildy in the 65-70mph range when i hear a loud knock and a violent shudder (like i ran over a brick or something) so i start to slow down/get over when it happens again, then i lose all motor to rear wheel power in the break down lane i discover that the transmission will seemingly shift but with no reaction(like when you put it in drive and it nudges forward a 1/2") and it will not transfer the horses to the rear.. :poopstorm: after being towed home by my friend.. i look under the skirt and see a very new very large dent in the diff cover about a 1 1/2" long, centered at the bottem, and she's leaking diff fluid now, i haven't started tearing into it yet ,but i figured it's ethier the tranns finaly died (damn you chrysler!!! :nunu: you finally got me!!!) or the rear axle imploded...or both... this happen to anyone else or something similar?

My clutches in my carrier broke and ate up my right side bearing cap . I didn't trust it because of the big tires I'm running and put a used diff in it . I understand this is what happens when you don't service these junk rear ends that they put in these trucks every 15,000 miles . Years ago you would hardly ever have to service a rear .

Ouch that sucks. Hope the 2500s aren't having the same issues. The wife's 08 2500 4X4 just went over 15k not too long ago and I don't think she has taken it in for service yet.

That really bites. Sorry to hear it. Hope it's not too painful.
