Hey Jroach,
From what I have been told, you would need to buy a wiring harness for the 360, along with the computers to go with it.

Note: If I am wrong in this, could someone please inform me? If I am wrong I was told wrong!

SHouldn't need much of anything outside of tools and maybe a few new gaskets. You will need to have the PCM flashed with 5.9 software though.

i think i will need a new torque converter... will be replaceing the engine mounts but every thing else should be an exact fit?

Exactly what year is your truck. I just did the swap from a 318 to 360. motor mounts are the same the heads are the same, only thing different is 318 is internally balanced and 360 externally balanced, you need to change balancer and oil pan. If you have a flexplate with the weights on it for a 360 then u can use the converter without weights on it. if u reuse your flexpate from your 318 you have to use a converter with the weights on it. Wiring harness is the same and if it is older truck u can use your 318 ecu it will just run lean.

thank you for the reply... its a 96 single cab 8ft bed, i think i will get the weighted converter and i already have a 360 ecu
thank you for your help

hey stroker can tou get alittle more in detail about this stroker I have a 98 ram 1500 with 200k on it and I am thinking about doing something with the engine and ofcourse I want more power is there a kit or do you have to buy crank and rods seprate

TwoDogs 07-03-2010 05:59 PM

you can either buy a kit and do all machine work or you can get a "short block" (Block that has been machined and crank, pistons, and all installed) I think you an even get a complete engine stroked to 392 ci. Just depends on your budget I guess. Check Ebay.
