Aftermarket brake controller
3 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone,
Has anyone installed an aftermarket brake controller on their 2010? Where is the right connector or "port" for the controller? I have a connector on my unit from my 04 Ram, but non of them look the same, perhaps it has changed for 2010?

I took photo's of the connectors I could find under the dash. I have circled in red the connector I found, the first 2 are closer to the door where the factory controller would be, the last photo, the white connector is closer to the gas pedal. Are any of these the correct one?

The connector you circled in the second connector is the right connector. In 2009 they changed the connector. The 2004 connector will not work.

2010 has an all new connector.

I checked this plug and there doesn't appear to be any power. Is the plug active or must I add a fuse or something?

You can get the adapter from a dealer. I think it cost me like $12... Might be able to get it for a better deal but for that price the convenience of it was worth just buying at the dealer. With the adapter you can then splice in to the after market harness you get with your controller.

BTW the adapter has everything you need to wire it correctly so you shouldn't need to add a fuse or relay or anything else.

I do have the adapter from the dealer, the package only included the pigtail. Hooked it up to my brake controller and then connected to the plug under the dash. The unit did not activate, appears to be no power. Used volt meter to check plug in van, doesn't appear to be any power in the plug.

'I know nothing' as Sergeant Schultz used to say on Hogan's Heros

But maybe the dealership has to activate something, software upgrade??

Hi all, has anyone heard of this issue?

"This part (56029431A) can only be used as a replacement on vehicles originally manufactured with the integrated trailer brake system. Do not attempt to use this module for the purpose of adding intregrated trailer brake to a vehicle that was not originally equipped. You will encounter configuration difficulties. Mopar is developing a kit. Expected availability is early fall, 2010"
