i wonder what the fastest 5.7 or 6.1 baised hemi is.

does anyone out there know what the fastest a modern hemi has run down the track. i dont care if its a supercharged nitrous fed 426 or a stock block 5.7. i dont care if its in a car, truck, go-cart, or tank. im just wondering what the fastest a modern hemi has gone. last i knew some of the LX guys are in the low 10's im just wondering where the limit is. i need a new goal with my next build. :poopstorm:

If you want to be technical the Hemi powered Top Fuel dragsters are the fastest of the Hemi's. 4.40's @ 330+ mph.

you missed a key word. and ok sure they are reciently built motors this is true. but they are not baised off of a modern motor. they are loosly baised off of the orriginal elephant motor. the king of all things go fast if you will the 70's 426CI Hemi. they are not baised off of a 5.7 or 6.1.

aslo guys thanks for the input. i figured it was in the low 10's high 9's range. anyone thing that i can get a 345CI(just a forged 5.7) displacement hemi to run in the 9's? i think that i can. we will see here in a few months what the current setup will do.(i knowit wont be 9's but it should be faster than a mid 11) hopefully i can get it on pinks all out in november.

then it will be on to build the most power possable. and see just how far the little hemi will go, before it blows a piston out of the side of the block.

How is a 426 modern? Even if you're talking about a new crate engine, the design isn't modern.

a 6.1L motor can be stroked out to a 462CI. sorry for the confusion. there are even a few stroked out to 440ci.

So we're talking about no limits other than retaining the stock block?

03ramit1 05-21-2010 06:50 PM

actually we are talking about no limits at all. it just needs to be baised off of the 5.7 or 6.1 mopar has an aluminum block to replace the cast iorn one but i dont know if any are even avaliable yet. bet yes it needs to be baised off of a modern (03 and up) hemi. it has to be obtainable for a guy building a motor with all machine work being done at a average machine shop. we are not talking one off parts, but they can be modified off the shelf stuff that anyone can obtain. now lets toss in one more twist it have to be able to drive 50 miles on public roads. how fast do you think someone could make it go?
