Mirrors

Can anyone tell me what the stock sport mirrors have on them? my sport came with the tow mirrors. i have a led turn signal and puddle lamp. when my parking or headlights are on, the turn signals do not illuminate. can anyone tell me on the stock sport mirrors if there are separate turn signals and puddle lights? also, are there any turn signals in the mirror themselves? do the stock sport mirrors have any lights that illuminate at night? power to the ram!!!!!

I wish I had the tow mirrors, wanna trade!!! ;)

The sport mirrors are the same as the laramie mirrors. While you are driving at night there is no light on. They have the turn signals on the bottom and not on the glass itself. There's also a white light at the bottom which I guess you call the puddle light.

thanks for the info. i actually like them but i think id like them better if they matched the color of the truck. not the end of the world though.

Get some Duplicolor and paint them yourself. Easy fix!

MSPTNY02 06-02-2010 09:07 PM

anyone ever use duplicolor and which of their products would be the best for the mirror covers?

MightyBlueRam 06-02-2010 10:23 PM

I don't know about painting it yourself. I mean how good is it really going to come out from a spray can? You better have some skills with a spray can. I mean having paid so much for a great looking truck like that, I'd rather leave them black or just have them color matched at a body shop. Just saying.

Painting with a rattle can is easy. I would suggest to do a couple of scrap pieces first to get some practice, but otherwise it's easy. Then you can cover it with a clear coat from a rattle can and have a good hard finish. For minor repairs like this I have used rattle cans successfully before. I had a 91 Honda Accord where the black trim between the windows went dull and was flaking away. I gave it a good sanding, painted them with a rattle can and I sold the car 10 years later, and my touch up was still looking good. The reason I said Duplicolor is because you can match your paint. They have it already to match you truck. Sand them to scuff them up a bit. Use some 600 grit sand paper, then primer and paint.

I am currently making a motor cover for another vehicle of mine which didn't come with a motor cover (the motor looks ugly with no cover) and to paint it I am using a rattle can. For small projects, it's too costly to go any other way. To have a body shop paint them for you will cost $300 or so.

I have a '12 Ram 1500 BH, which came with the black flip up tow mirrors (power, heated, turn signal, courtesy/puddle light).

I'd like to replace them with the regular (non-tow/black) mirrors that are power, heated, have turn signals and the courtesy/puddle lights.

Anyone in Central CA and want to trade (Lemoore,CA)
