Replacement Bed Question

Looking for a new bed for the truck I went to car-parts.com qnd noticed that it asks me for a build date. Thru 5/94 and after 6/94. My truck has a date of 3/94 which puts it into the first category. What is the difference in the 2 beds? I would think all beds for the 94's would work on any 94 etc. Really making finding a decent one at a good price difficult.

If it is something minor I could buy one from alittle later and mod it to make it work. Is why I am asking.

My nephew just put my truck into the garage and replacing the bed is cheaper than fixing the side panel. Any idea how to take it off? My Hayne's manual is coming up short.

I took out the tailights etc then looked around and found a few mounting places and once those bolts were off all I did was flip it over to one side. I'll take some pics of it without the bed to show the mount spots for you.

I just looked it up too, that is weird that are two different beds. Its probably something really little that they changed.

I'm tempted to buy a cheap one for like 50 bucks thats beat up that is made after 5/94 just to see if it fits or not. Alot of times on car-parts a part will fit but due to some small change as you said it will still list it as not fitting.

I had a Crown Victoria, any trans from 98-02 would work, even up to 08 with some minot modifications, yet car-part only listed 98 as a replacement. Yet I replaced it with a 01 requiring no modification.

Found out the difference in LMC magazine.
1st design- US built models up to 03/27/95 and Mexico models built up to 04/10/95 Left hand tailgate hinge inside diameter measures .85"
2nd design- US built models after 3/27/95 and Mexico models built after 04/10/95 Left hand tailgate hinge inside diameter measures 1.33"

So I would assume if you get the tailgate with it it should work.

That settles that then, after looking at one at the yard it looked like the same exact bolt spots. Just need to grab the tail gate. Only 128 at pull-a-part! Thanks for the info, that helps alot.

On a side note, whats the difference in a sport grille, headlights and taillights and bumper?

94-98, just painted stuff on the sport. 99-01 sports are different bumpers, headlights and grill
Here is my dads 98 and my 01 sport

Ahh so the sport grille is rounded on the bottom as opposed to the normal which is straight across and thus the sport bumper has a small space for the rounder grille. Still don't see a difference in the headlights or tail lights lol.

The grill also a a larger nose and sticks out more.

The sport has quad headlamps, high and low are seperate, but they mount the same. The older sports they are the same as a regular Ram with just dual heads,high/low are one bulb
oh and sport taillights are painted to match the body, but mount the same too.
