Brake/ABS Glitch??

So im sitting at a stoplight...i hear a ding, look down both my ABS and Brake light are illuminated, what the hell? so i drive down the hill realize my speedo is not working either....so i pull over shut the truck off fire it up everything is fine brakes work, speedo works...my question is what could cause this?? don't have a scan tool at home so can't scan it!

Also thought my knobby wide tires might have swiped a speed sensor off..check both the driver and passenger side...drive side has the brake line and then an electrical wire going into the back of the rotor, connected up behind wheel well, everything looks fine! go to the passenger side all i find is a brake line? is it suppose to be like this? or is my speed sensor just gone?

An intermittent fault with a speed sensor is most likely.

Ya i am going to plug it in tomorow to see what is stored!

But should there not be a speed sensor going to the passenger front wheel? there is one on the drivers side!?

RamTech 06-28-2010 10:49 PM

There should be one on each front wheel. If one were missing, a hard fault should be stored.

Ruffian11 06-28-2010 11:06 PM

ya, and that would keep the ABS light illuminated would it not?

I got under there crawled around found no wire, connector or bracket for the wire? this struck me as odd!

RamTech 06-28-2010 11:10 PM

Seems like I've heard this story before but the service info says there are two up front.

Ruffian11 06-28-2010 11:24 PM

Thanks for the help, when i plug in i will see what it says!
Is it possible for the other speed sensor to be on the front diff?

RamTech 06-29-2010 09:27 AM

No, they'd be at each hub.

I guess the only way to find out is to plug in which i am going down to do now...it would help if someone with an 05 ram could pop there head under there truck and have a peak haha!!

Ruffian11 06-30-2010 10:02 PM

Plugged into the truck...no codes found at all?

So i checked out both RWD ABS and 4Wheel ABS, not sure which mine has...so how can you tell? and i went into the data stream an while stopped the rear sensor said 0 KPH but both the front ones said 55 KPH....is this one way to tell if i just have rear ABS? thanks!
