heater core/AC ??? wet floor
have a 97 ram 1500 with 318...

Took a little road trip in truck yesterday. On the way home wife noticed the floor was wet under her feet(passenger side). Of course first thought was HEATER CORE... pulled off highway and felt carpet. It was damp to wet but not soaked. I smelled my hand after I felt it, not even a hint of antifreeze smell. Literally stuck my nose to antifreeze smell(the truck does have a good antifreeze mixture in it..). Continued home without incident (we drove the truck about 5.5 hours highway driving overall yesterday). Once home I checked coolant level. It appeared to be not far off from before we set out. Always check fluid levels before leaving home on any longer trips so i knew what I was looking at. My wife had told me her bare foot had touched the black plastic cluster under glove box as she was getting out of truck and her foot was wet when we parked for night. It had been a long day and I didn't look closely at anything except coolant level under the hood when home. This morning before i left for work carpet was almost dry. Drove to work WITHOUT using AC (which blows ice cold). worked all day. Before heading home carpet was completely dry. Drove home (about 30 miles) without using AC and even ran heat full blast a few miles..about as long as I could stand it..and upon arriving home carpet was still dry. is where I need some insight...

I'm assuming this is an AC issue and not a heater core issue..

what AC components are under dash that would leak?

does the dash have to be removed to fix any AC components that are there?

is it true that dash needs to be removed for heatercore?

no expert here, just looking for any tips or info from anyone that has experienced or has knowledge on a wet passenger carpet in this generation dodge, or someone that is familiar with heater cores and AC..

thanks for taking time to read my ad..appreciate all responses.

Sounds like the evaperator drain might be stopped up causing condensation to run out of the HVAC housing into the floor.

where is this stuff located..firewall? behind dash? do I need to follow AC lines back to firewall?

I guess the hvac housing is the black plastic housing under glove box. But how do I get to drain?

The drain will be on the firewall under the hood on the passenger side of the truck. You may find it easier to access from underneath.

Use a wet /dry vac and suck the drain port till it clears out .
