prototype perf bumper inserts
I whipped these up today in about 45mins just using a simple cardboard template. Its just some galvanized perforated sheet metal we use at work to put over the insulation inside massive duct work to keep it from blowing down steam we have scraps of it all the time. Any how, for a prototype do they look ok? I can not find any 1/8" rivets in the garage for the life of me for the pressure fit locking tabs I put on them so there is no modifications required at all to put them on your vehicle. Tek screws will have to do for now. I also need to trim them up a little bit more with the tin snips here and there to make a more precise fit. I could mass produce these and sell them if anyone likes them :P hehe.

Looks good! I suppose you could paint or powdercoat them body color, a contrasting color or clear them for that billet look.

you may wanna consider doinf a thin boarder to help keep it rigid..other than that i like it! nice work

Trim them back a little and put a thin rubber seal around them .

Nice job. I second everyone's opinions.

Thx for the comments thus far!

I like the trimming them back a tad and putting rubber around the edges idea. THX! As for coloring them ect yea, I was just going to polish the livin crap out of them w/ the orbital polisher to remove the duller color galvanization and then clear coat them, I love black trucks & lots of shinny bits.

Once I get these ones fitting perfect, then I will trace them onto some more perf material (i have LOTS) and add 3/16" of material all around, then slowly hammer it over to make a "safety hem" as we call them in sheet metal world, wich will make them more rigid/less wavy. And if adding the rubber around the edges they should almost fit water tight.

I just wish my bumper did not have a mini ding in the bottom of the passenger size hole, makes one fit a little funny. gonna try to bang it out with the rubber mallet but I dunno how much it'll move... dont wanna crack the chrome.

Hopefully Ill have more pics by wed/thu. Kinda busy today/tomorrow with work. Damn work always getting in the way of playing with the truck.

They look good and it is a nice Mod. It is cool when people think outside the box.
